On Sunday 5th November, 2000, six young men with experience and exposure in music met to deliberate on how they could develop music in Cross River State, Nigeria and indeed the entire African continent. These young men were: - Clement Ijighere, Philip Ephraim, David Jacob, Michael Edem, Abasiana Akpan and Silas Etebon. They were all concerned with the low standards of music and the need for the youths to develop their talents in the visual and applied arts and so they decided to establish a society of music which is to function like internationally renowned music societies and organizations.
